Whether you are planning to come to Lefkas or are already here you will want to see as much as possible. Unfortunately
y, public transport on the island is not ideal and you are not able to see the fantastic west coast beaches and the high, inland villages by taking the local buses. So why not take this opportunity to see Lefkas as only a local can show you. Secret Lefkas offers you the chance to go where buses and coaches cannot reach. It also includes the more famous of the landmarks. A full day out that you will never forget.
As there is never more than eight people in the party you will be assured of personal attention at all times. Wherever we go on the island you will be amazed at its beauty. Around every bend in the road there is yet another breathtaking view, first of mountains, then of sea. Of a coastline filled with islands and of a coastline where there is nothing but open sea stretching to the horizon.
Santa Mavra castle is a source of many stories. The last thousand years of the islands history has been forged here. I will also take you to Faneromeni monastery, a place of peace and healing.
Going into the interior of Lefkada you will see traditional villages that have hardly changed for generations. You can share a carafe of wine with the locals and see the women working at their embroidery. They love to have their photographs taken. Some of these ladies don't leave their villages from one year to the next and you will be as much a source of curiosity to them as they are to you. Only ten per cent of Lefkada is flat so it is only a short distance to reach the high mountains, but when you are there you will feel as if you are miles from anywhere. You will see ruined villages and wild countryside; vines and crops growing so far from any village that you wonder who could possibly tend them. Ancient monasteries and churches abound here. You will see some that very rarely get visited on these wild mountaintops.
So come with me into the secret world of Lefkas.
