On The Harbour.
Starting at the north end.Turn down the narrow street that leads to the harbour and on your left you will find: The NOTOS. Here you will have the choice of sitting inside or actually on the beach. Good food and most evenings there is live Greek music. Later in the evening there may be spontaneous dancing. It depends on the mood of the diners.
The ELITE bar a few yards further on does the best toasties in Nidri. Owned by two brothers, Savva and Adonis, this bar is open all year round.
Along by the statue of Aristotle Onassis is LA MINUTE. a bar and cafe where you will find burgers, ice creams, satellite television with Sky sports and free wifi. Spiros, the owner is very laid back and friendly.
Next door is the CAFE DE PARIS, run by Panos, a great guy with excellent English. Very similar to La Minute and also with Sky and Wifi.
The CATAMARAN is a restaurant that always has good food and a slightly upmarket service. By that I mean the cutlery is actually wrapped in a napkin and not in the bread basket!
Stop press! New for this year is Mamma Mias Greek taverna. Located on the front but further south. well past the ferries, this taverna looks as if it will be serving very good food at reasonable prices. The flogeres are delicious.
On The Main Road.
As you come into Nidri from Lefkas town there is: The PINEWOOD. Located near to the Sands Hotel this is a very popular restaurant with the British. A beautiful beach setting.
New for this year is JD's. Located opposite the Apha bank and replacing TJ's it is still an English run cafe/ taverna. You will find an excellent English breakfast and evening meals too.
TOMS , behind the All Seasons office, is another lovely sea front restaurant.
Going south along the road is the MIMIKAS bar. Friendly with laid back music. Watch the world go by.
In the centre of Nidri there is the OK KALA run by George, a very entertaining person who used to be in the circus. He is always showing off his old circus tricks. The children love it.
The TRATA taverna, at the junction of the Paleokatouna road, is very popular. There is a lovely garden setting at the back.
For a fast takeaway there is PETER'S. Sandwiches, burgers and crepes.
STATHIS, at the southern end of Nidri, has very good, affordable giros. Takeaway or eat at one of the tables.
All of the bakers sell freshly made sandwiches made with their own bread. Prices vary so check around.
There are a couple of places that have late night music, including the ROADHOUSE at the southern end of the town and the SAIL INN nightclub at the Northern end.
So just a small selection. Hopefully people will make their own views known on the forum.
