Many signposts point to the waterfalls at Rahi. The three kilometre walk may feel like five, especially in high season, but for many people it is worthwhile. Always remember to take water wherever you go .

Although the falls are modest compared with those in many countries they are very unusual on a Greek island. The walk itself is a steady ascent, taking you past a traditional taverna and then on up until you reach a small bar. A very welcome rest stop. Another fifteen minute walk brings you to the river crossing, the arch and the pool. It is possible to swim in the pool here, but be warned - it is very refreshing! The noise that you may sometimes hear, according to season, is the croak of the bull frogs. They echo between the cliffs and add to the atmosphere. The best time to visit the waterfall is early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. To reach the top of the waterfall does involve quite a lot of scrambling although the steps have been repaired recently and so it is much safer than it was. You can actually hire a bike or car and get most of the way there.

This is a picture of Nidri harbour, just before the beginning of the season. Very few people see the island as quiet as this. You can see that the place is virtually deserted. This is the secret Lefkas that is known to only a few. Many of the restaurants are yet to open. You can just see the top of the big boats, Macedonia Palace, Eptanisos, Nidri star etc. They have only recently come out of dry dock, ready to take visitors on their voyages of discovery.
